Key Personnel Biographies


Doug J. Morin, Executive Director – With more than 20 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, most of it in the healthcare industry, Doug joined CVVIM in July of 2015. A Medical Social Worker, his professional experiences include direct patient care, business development and fund development, many from senior management and leadership positions. Marie Brunner, Director of Clinical Operations – A Certified Medical Assistant, Marie has worked in both human and animal health practices. With more than 20 years of clinical and administrative experiences, most recently with animal health organizations, Marie chose to return to the human health industry after experiencing her own personal health issues, believing her experiences could benefit others in their health and wellness. She has been employed at CVVIM since January of 2017 where she is responsible for provider credentialing, relations and scheduling, patient advocacy, operations oversight and supervision of front office, back office and volunteer services. Monica Salazar, Clinic Supervisor – After volunteering for several months to gain experience following receipt of her Medical Assistant certificate, Monica began employment with CVVIM in 2013 as a Medical Assistant. Her positive attitude, interpersonal and organization skills quickly led her to receive a promotion to Back Office Supervisor. Monica works closely with the Clinic providers, clinical volunteers and medical residents, and has responsibility for back office organization, medical supply ordering and supporting quality medical care, including case management services.
Amanda Fernandez, Dental Assistant – Originally starting with CVVIM as a volunteer through Indio High School’s Health Career Academy, Amanda returned after her initial volunteer experience, this time as a dental assistant intern through a local college. Now, Amanda assists our dental providers in a part-time paid position with patient care and teaching good oral hygiene. Ashley Celiz, Front Office and Volunteer Coordinator – Ashley joined CVVIM in 2016 as a front office/reception volunteer where she quickly learned about the organization and became adept with all aspects of medical office reception. When a part-time position as Volunteer Coordinator became available, Ashley applied and was selected for the position. In August of 2017 Ashely was promoted to the position of Front Office and Volunteer Coordinator, retaining her initial responsibilities as Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley is also now responsible for the Front Office, ensuring quality public and patient reception, patient verification of eligibility, and scheduling and among other responsibilities. Sara O’Flynn, Event Manager – Joining our team in 2017, Sara has a strong background in event planning as Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for The Gardens on El Paseo from 2004 through 2013. She has also held several volunteer and board positions within the Coachella Valley community including; Chair of the City of Palm Desert Marketing Committee, as member of the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, and as a volunteer for Sacred Heart School, Xavier College Preparatory High School, and Guide Dogs of the Desert. Sara has primary responsibility for our signature event, the annual WineLover’s Auction.
David Stern, Marketing – With more than 30 years experience, David has led the planning, creative development and implementation of marketing campaigns for products and services across many categories and communication platforms. He has developed and executed sales-generating campaigns in categories such as retail, packaged goods, financial, quick service restaurants, fitness, hardware retail, computer corporate and education sales, Information Technology, video gaming, theme parks, toys, data management software solutions, and the TV station industry. These days, David provides marketing and communication services to Coachella Valley nonprofits and we are pleased to have him as our contract marketing guru.
